Every church loves to have Godly, committed volunteers sprinkled through its lobby or kids ministry...but finding and retaining these volunteers can be tough. The 80/20 is a guideline we use here at Life.Church to help us find and keep excellent volunteers. It's simple: spend 80% of your time and energy investing in your tried-and-true volunteers, and spend 20% of your energy on finding new volunteers. Though it seems counterintuitive to invest more in the volunteers you already have, they'll be your biggest recruiters if they love serving at your church. Almost everything we do as a church comes down to relationship: cultivate meaningful, deep relationships—with attendees, with kids, with volunteers—and you'll have a greater Kingdom impact.
