Our Volunteers use a Online Campus slack channel to communicate. If we could replace the volunteer chat with the slack channel this would better resource our volunteers and give them a way inside ChOP to message/notify staff or support team members who aren't actively logged into ChOP during an event.
Hello Jason. This is a great idea! Do your volunteers engage well with Slack? Is there a learning curve for some of them, and, if so, how do you overcome that?
@Ryan_Greenawalt we are in the early stages of it... but since we've chosen to do away with the community tool we have been using and replacing it with a private facebook group (for online attendees) we needed a place for our volunteers to collaborate... several didn't want to use facebook so since we already use slack for our staff it was a natural place for volunteers to connect as a volunteer group
We've sent them a few how to slack training videos and most have adapted well.
