I recently had an opportunity to Serve in my area. I coupled with a much younger leader who has such a wonderful heart for youth. However, We had a passionate difference of opinion when it related to marijuana and teaching youth that " just a little seemed harmless".
This was enough for me to take a step back and really search my heart. I felt I was compromising my obedience to God by not standing to support sobriety in our youth.
When speaking to others over this ministry about the situation, I explained that a calling is upon my life is to share to other about the difficulties of overcoming addictions and how God can help, and how it's imperative to help youth refrain from substance abuse. I had personally witnessed many in my family and friends become addicts and was even raped by a drug dealer. This is a very serious issue for me and the enemy is rampant right now behind the scenes using leaders to plant seeds to rebel. I believe that it would help if the younger youth leaders were accompanied by a seasoned leader.
I don't understand how this (mentioning of drug use and that's a little is harmless) couldn't be a serious issue for leaders. Perhaps it's the age difference and the perspective is different.
I don't know. My stomach has been in knots over that situation. I know we are supposed to love like Jesus. Jesus also corrected.
I absolutely LOVE this ministry I just witness a spirit of ERROR moving and it's like there's a stupor and people aren't listening.
